He was a prominent tea planter of Assam. He dedicated his life to the tea industry and development of sports, Education and Social & Public Infrastructure. By his life time experiences, he made remarkable contribution for the tea industry and also for the welfare of the community. He helped to bridge the gap between the Government, workers and management. He was not only an ace entrepreneur but also a noble philanthropist. He had donated land for key iconic locations in Dibrugarh town such as “The Jagannath Temple”, “The Assam Medical College Hospital”, “The Murlidhar Jalan Bus Terminus”, “The indoor & outdoor sports stadium” , various other Namghars and other such locations.
He was associated with Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya as a trustee of the parent trust Sri Kanchi Sankara Health & Educational Foundation from 21st January’1997 onwards till his demise.
