PROGRAMME IMPACT ASSESSMENT REPORT

Introduction: SSN, Guwahati in partnership with Mission for Vision is providing eye health services in the project locations. Mission for Vision as a part of its mandate has been undertaking assessment activities at the hospital and its project location.


Following activities are undertaken by the department in partner organizations:

Data collection: The data collection is done by the Field Investigators and supervised by the Managers – Programme Impact from MFV.

Use of report: The detail of the findings associated with the above exercise has been described in this report for reference and taking necessary action by the hospital administration. It is expected that the findings from this report will also be widely shared and used in hospital publications.


1. Basic profile of respondents

This section describes the understanding of respondents' basic profile related to their gender, age, marital status and education level. We also tried to highlight the respondent's operated eye by understanding which eyes operated on during the assessment period October 2020 to March 2021. Among the total sample of 64 patients, 52% were male, and 48% were female. We found people within the age bracket of 50 to 64 years were the maximum 59% who reported the base hospital for cataract surgeries. Importantly, we observed that 52% of patients' left eyes operated on during this assessment period. It also found that 39% of operated patients are illiterate, 25% have primary schooling, and 33% have secondary schooling.


During the assessment period April to September 2021. Among the total sample of 255 patients, 39% were male, and 61% were female. We found people within the age bracket of 50 to 64 years were the maximum 52% who reported the base hospital for cataract surgeries. Importantly, we observed that 51% of patients' left eyes operated on during this assessment period. It also found that 40% of operated patients are illiterate, 31% have primary schooling, and 27% have secondary schooling.
