Born on 13th September’1935 in the temple town of Madurai in Tamil Nadu, he graduated from Madras Christian College, Chennai and finally attained a Master’s Degree in Physics.
He was selected to be a member of the Indian Police Service in 1960, allotted to the Assam and Meghalaya cadre of the IPS. He had a long and distinguished career in public service. He held various positions, both in the state of Assam and in the Government of India. He was finally elevated and served as the Director General of Police of the state of Assam from July’1991 to April’1994. His dedicated service to the state earned him appreciation by way of police medals and an additional six months as the Chief of Police of Assam. He retired from civil service in 1994.
After his retirement, he was deeply associated with the activities of the Kanchi Math in North-East India. He played a pivotal role in establishment of Balaji Temple and growth & development of Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya. He left behind a legacy of selfless service to the people of Assam.
He was associated with Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya as a founder trustee and vice chairman of the parent trust Sri Kanchi Sankara Health & Educational Foundation from 03rd January’1994 till his demise.
