This section includes the understanding of the respondent's Post-operative status. In general, the Field investigator/ supervisor collects these data at the doorsteps after six months of surgery from the base hospital. From October to March total of 82 patients, and from April 2021 to September 2021, a total of 126 patients visited their residence address. It found that 99% and 97% of operated patients attended their post-operative review.
From October 2020 to March 2021, 99% of review patients were prescribed glasses, and 82% of patients' prescribed glasses were from April to September 2021. We identified the spectacles wearing behaviour of patients from October to March of 94% of patients who were using spectacles.
From April to September 2021, we identified 78% of operated patients were using spectacles. We also tried to understand the Post-operative ocular complaints after six months of surgery. We found a significant improvement in comparison to previous years' findings that during the period October 2020 to March 2021, Watering 6%, Itching 2%, Redness 0%, Pain 2%, Poor vision 24%, Hazy vision 0%, Others 1%, No complaint 65%. Similarly, from April to September 2021, Watering was 0%, Itching 1%, Redness 0%, Pain 1%, Poor vision 41%, Hazy vision 0%, Others 1%, No complaint 70%. During this period of 91 patients were further referred to the base hospital or nearby vision centre by MFV Field Supervisor.
This section will help to understand the respondent's visual acuity status between Pre and Post-operative periods. During the period October 2020 to March 2021 total of 64 people were interviewed for the baseline survey. We found the pre-operative visual acuity of patients as 67% in the poor category and 30% in the border category. Similarly, from April 2021 to September 2021, we found the pre-operative visual acuity of patients as 73% in poor and 23% in the borderline category.
During their follow-up vision, and that was as per the WHO standard. From October to March, we found 46% in very good, 38% is good, 16% in borderline and 0% of operated patients in poor visual acuity status. From April 2021 to September 2021, we found 78% in very good, 13% is good, 7% in borderline and 2% of operated patients in poor visual acuity status.
We also assessed the visual acuity with the pinhole. We found the visual acuity status as, During the period October to March, we found 88% in very good, 9% is good, 3% in borderline and 0% of operated patients in poor visual acuity status. During the period April 2021 to September 2021, we found 81% in very good, 16% is good, 3% in borderline and 0% of operated patients in poor visual acuity status
